We help you grow. on Instagram: "Comment “Potato Daddy” for our best free resources on growing potatoes, one of Kevin’s favorite crops. Potatoes are “pioneer crops”, or crops that are great to plant in unimproved soil. They’ll not only grow well, but will set the soil up for success in future veggie plantings! The easiest way to grow them is from a “seed potato”, which is a potato grown for the purpose of growing more potatoes. They’re kept free of disease and damage. The soil at my allotment has never been great, so this is the latest attempt at growing successful potatoes. Potatoes need very fertile soil, and mine is ‘under construction’ still 😅 Anyway… back to the towers I’ve used currently tree branches to create the wire tower supports but you can use standard garden canes. Step one: Place your supports in the ground, do not tie at the top as you will need access to top up the grass over the potatoes as they grow. Step two: Wrap with chicken wire to contain the soil, manure, potatoes and grass cuttings Step three: Plant the seed potatoes and cover with more soil and manure Step four: As the potatoes grow cover with grass cuttings ✌️ it’s as simple as that! When it comes to harvesting you can simply dismantle the towers and pick your potatoes, no back breaking digging required 💁‍♀️ Let me know, will you be be trying this? | Laura
