Rich, hearty, refreshing, and super easy Cold Sesame Noodles inspired by Chinese and Taiwanese flavours with homemade chili oil. These noodles are inspired by Taiwanese sesame noodles and the cold sesame noodles I had from the restaurant Mian in Las Vegas, that served it with a delicious numbing chili oil.
This Indo Chinese Style Chili Tofu inspired by both Chili Paneer and Veg Manchurian (dry versions) that I love to have at my favourite local Indian restaurant. This tofu is coated in an irresistibly sweet and fierily spicy sauce cooked down with a mix of vegetables and a lot of aromatics. Though chilli paneer and veg manchurian are usually enjoyed as a starter, you can enjoy this tofu as an appetiser or serve it with fried rice, noodles, or other carb of your choice.
A simple stir-fry of five spice tofu, mushrooms, & freshly harvested garlic or Chinese chives (kuchay) from my garden. The addition of pickled radish or zha cai to this stir-fry adds a nice bite and extra savoury and sour flavours. It's an ingredient we always have at home and is great to add to stir-fries because it adds a unique flavour.
Crispy pieces of mushrooms coated with some salt, pepper, and really fragrant chinese five spice. You only need 7 ingredients for this really snack that you can munch on! It’s inspired by the Taiwanese popcorn chicken that are usually enjoyed in bubble tea shops, night markets, or food stalls in Taiwan.
A vegan version of one of my favourite Thai dishes is this Tom Yum or a Thai Hot and Sour Soup. It’s super aromatic and has a perfect balance of sour, hint of sweetness, and a little bit of spice. It’s both light and hearty, and also actually really healthy. You can make a creamy version of this Tom Yum by adding evaporated milk.
