Venus at her Mirror by Peter Paul Rubens (1614)  Rubens (1577-1640) flourished in the Baroque period as a master painter from Flanders. His extensive travels and studies brought many different subjects to his paintings. The lovely Venus is an example of Rubenesque, a term coined due to the wonderfully fleshy bodies of his subjects.
