I combined my Hidden Depths flower (design by Lynn Firth) with 'Royal Chains Lariat' by Kelly Wiese (Beadwork Magazine Oct/Nov 2009). I added a brooch to the back of the flower so it can be worn on the lariat or as a brooch.
Olga Orlova is one more talanted beadwork author. She works mostly with bead embroidery and makes really delicate amazing jewelry. Her necklaces, brooches and handbags remind beautiful old-fashioned and vintage things because she uses old golden-embroidered techniques.
Catherine-Russian Bead Lace This bead work, originating from Russia, is made up from small components: leaves and starflowers. These are then stitched together and this is where your own creativity comes in. The possibilities are endless, from a simple necklace to whole pieces of clothing. It all depends on how you decide to connect the pieces.
Just finished this rosette in size 11 seed beads, with a bezeled Swarovski rivoli in the center. The pattern is from Sharon Bateman's book "Morning Rose." The stubby-looking point on the upper right isn't stubby in real life. Square-stitched, backed with ultrasuede. I might try it in size 15s next.
