22 Books You Should Read Now, Based On Your Childhood Favorites

Out of these books, "A Game of Thrones" changed my ways of seeing fantasy genre. After Tolkien, I tought every single high fantasy book will be nearly the same. I was wrong. This book will be always a personal favourite.

The Blade Itself (First Law Trilogy) by Joe Abercrombie. Like the grittiness and worldbuilding of George R. R. Martin but don't like the neverending story and six-year publishing gaps? Give Joe Abercrombie a try. He's keeping a book-a-year schedule, has had an actual trilogy - with an ending! - aand is in the process of delivering his third stand alone book set in the same universe as the trilogy. Really good stuff.

It's Fantasy written with almost an Ellroy attitude. All of Joe's books are good, but this is the one to start with.

Quote of the Week from Scott Lynch: “I think it’s fairly common for writers to be afflicted with two simultaneous yet contradictory delusions, the burning certainty that we’re unique geniuses, and the constant fear that we’re witless frauds who are speeding toward epic failure.” -Scott Lynch

The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. First in the Gentlemen Bastards series. It's sort of like Oliver mixed with Ocean's Eleven.
