FAL 1st Quarter Roundup
3 months in to the year and time for a roundup of what exactly did happen to all those lingering UFOs... Back in January, I listed 5 UFOs here that I wanted to whip in to shape and finish by the end of March as part of Leanne's Finishalong. So how did I do? Well I finished 4 out of the 5! First there were the 2 quilt tops made by the Care Circle of do.Good Stitches. As the quilter I was responsible for transforming them in to quilts. First up was the Scrappy X and Plus quilt top which is now…

Snowball Star
Snowball Star is all done now and it turned out a-okay. Took a while to quilt it, but the quilting wasn't hard - just lots of stops and starts. A corner of the quilt showing quilting and the binding which is done with short strips of the fabric. The back - only thing I would change on that is to make the first "E" a different color as there isn't much contrast between the orange and the pink. Almost every quilt I have made has something I would have changed - but that's just being human and…

Scrappy Snowball Doll Quilt Top
This will be my sample quilt for a new kit -- a simple Snowball pattern in authentic 1930s fabrics. Well -- the 2 plain square blocks are certainly simple, but maybe not the 164 tiny hand cut triangles. Anyway, I do like this pattern, and it adapts easily to other types of fabrics. Right now

Sew Kind Of Wonderful
Building your fabric stash can be a daunting and overwhelming task. I know that we as sewers and quilters have quite the collection of fabrics already but do we have the right type of fabric in our stash that can be easily pulled and used for a particular project? I wanted to share some simple ideas and questions to ask yourself the next time you are at the fabric shop and wanting to buy some fabric to build up your stash. What color of fabric do I need or want? We all have a color we…

Grace and Favour
For the past seven years, I have been sewing and trading bee blocks with wonderful on-line ladies. It has been a lot of fun. and i have sewn some blocks that I never would have otherwise. The other night, I mailed my last three blocks away. It was such a relief, but I also know that I'm going to miss doing it, and getting them in the mail. This coming year will be weird as I will be sewing just for me. Imagine : ) I have been busy finishing up some stocking stuffers. As usual it's the last…
