Rainforest room! For Rainforest week we transformed the small entry hall into our cloakroom into a fantastic mini rainforest! Our class again worked on all the parts and we even had a little sensory pond, rainforest sound track playing, and made this cool gorilla cut out take pictures with! Was a big hit!
Easter tree! We combined a science project with art in this project. We picked the branches about 3 weeks before Easter and did weekly observations on them, writing and drawing what happened to the branches. Then I bought plastic eggs for everyone to decorate and presto! An Easter tree!!!
Boats out of recycled materials! For our unit on land, water, and air vehicles we broke our class into pairs to build vehicles out of recycled materials. It was a good lesson in cooperation and compromise for them. We even found a little pool to try out the boats after they were made! Most of them even floated!
Chinese New Year!!! Our class was in charge of this festival assembly. The whole school actually worked on decorating the skirt of the big dragon, gluing tissue paper circles to it. Our class worked hard at cutting out the paper scales and painting other various parts. Then at the assembly each class got to take a turn dancing under the huge dragon costume while 3 students worked the smaller dragon that was attached to the top of 3 poles.
Owl shakers! These ideas I actually got from Pinterest and modified a bit. We made these cool shakers out of painted toilet paper rolls. We added rice into them to make them shakers. Folding and gluing the tops shut was the hardest part really. Then we added the feathers to the bottom and stapled them shut. Everyone enjoyed both making them and playing with them!
