(I made 2 sets per child; if they need to spell masa, they will need 2 letter a’s.) I used the mat with letters on the top and a line at the bottom to Velcro the words in the middle, then write the word at the bottom with a dry erase pen. See picture on cover. Sight word cards to practice, cut place on mat, read the word, then write the word. Place Velcro or magnetic letters on the letters at the bottom of each card, practice forming the sight words at the top. SPINNERS: Place a paperclip in the middle of the spinner. Place the point of the pencil in the center of the paperclip and spin. Students can practice spinning and naming letters, forming real words and nonsense words, etc. Syllable spinners: Have the kids practice spinning syllables and reading, spinning and making a list of real words and nonsense words, etc. Word spinner cards- Same initial syllable: Students read the initial syllable & spin for the 2nd syllable in the word. They blend the syllables together and write the correct word in the box with a dry erase pen. Word spinner cards- Same last syllable: Students spin to read the 1st initial syllable & read the 2nd syllable in the word.
