Pattern for knotted scabbard belt?

Reenactors seem to love this knot to a ridiculous degree. I've seen people walking around at Viking festivals with 10th century swords scabbards suspended with this knot. That's pretty much like a 15th century gunner carrying his aquebus dangling from a 21st century AR-15 tactical harness. But, never mind all that, here's how to tie it.
