Visualization of Microglia using TEM

A transmission electron microscopy image aquired from the corpus callosum of rat following experimental demyelination. In this image, a microglial cell is observed within the lesion (yellow box). The second image shows an enlarged view of the microglial cell. Microglia are activated in response to demyelination and they largely contribute too the recovery process. Note: The black circles are the myelin sheaths present around neuronal axons.
