HMS Nelson and her sister HMS Rodney were the Royal Navy's first battleships of the post-dreadnought era (1920s), and also the only British battleships to carry 16 in guns. They carried all these forward, being cut down from a much larger design to meet Washington Treaty tonnage limits. Both survived WW2.
