Gambia’s minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Hon. Amadou Sanneh, revealed on 29 June 2017 that the total revenue and grants for the 2017 Revised Budget is now projected at D12.242 billion, 5.7 percent less than the 2016 figure of D12.994 billion. Minister Sanneh also disclosed that an abuse of state-owned enterprises through the embezzlement of funds amounted to D4.7 billion within a space of 3 years; this is equivalent to more than 38 per cent of the country’s 2017 revised budget.
