Josephine Cochrane 1839-1913. When it came time to do the dishes, she really didn’t want to, so she invented a Dishwasher. Her creation had wire compartments for plates, cups and saucers.  They were put inside a wheel that lay flat inside a copper boiler.  A motor turned the wheel pumping hot soapy water from the bottom of the boiler over the dishes. received her first patent on the Garis-Cochran Dish-Washing Machine December 28, 1886. Her company is now called Whirlpool.
