Impressionist in nature, the Heidelberg School dominated Australian art for around thirty years in the late 19th & early 20th centuries. It had a tremendous impact on the history of Australian art in general & landscape painting in particular. It comprised some of the most prominent painters in Australia ’s history: Arthur Streeton, Walter Withers, Tom Roberts, Charles Conder and Frederick McCubbin to name but a few.
