Arts: Folklore In this photo you see O Boto, a mythical pink dolphin of a folklore tale. Folklore is very popular in all the regions in Brazil. There are many different mythological creatures and stories, such as Boitatá, a snake covered with flames. Also Cobra Grande, a huge snake living in the Amazon that frightens people by changing shape and Bicho Papão, a monster who eats children; and many others. Folklore has shaped Brazil’s culture and beliefs.
