This is a gorgeous antique French sterling silver chocolate pot with a carved ivory handle. It was made by the Paris firm Gustave Keller, which was in business from 1881-1922. The pot is beautifully made with an acanthus leaf design at the base and on the lid. The piece was entirely gilded at one time, as there are the remains of gilt on the base and in the crevices.

Chocolate pot with stirrer: place chocolate into pot, add hot milk & sugar (if that is your recipe), wait a few moments for the chocolate to melt. Set the molinet into the pot then cover with the lid. Take the molinet between your two hands & rub the stick between them as if you are starting a fire. This will emulsify the milk & the chocolate, making it froth.
