Loaded Sticks (knocking-down sticks) by Illtyd Perkins Woodworking. A few sharp taps w/ the weighted sticks during the sewing process will consolidate the thread & flatten the fold - this reduces the thickness of the fold in order to avoid excessive spine swelling, particularly when using heavier thread or repaired (guarded) folds. Sticks are approx. 9" long & 1" square; leather covered & the striking section is internally weighted w/ a steel bar. Wood is usually a dense exotic hardwood.
