CERCIS SILIQUASTRUM (JUDAS TREE): Canopy tree. Can be shaped to a single-stemmed tree or to a more shrub-like multi-stemmed plant. Grows to 4-8m, with a canopy spread of 3-5m, which can be open and broadly spreading, loosely rounded or flat. Prefers low to moderate shade (seasonal).Slow growth rate. Avoid hot dry winds and overly exposed sites. Full sun yeilds deeper foliage colour. Can tolerate a wide range of soil types and dry sites but prefers moist, deep and well drained fertile soils.
