Snowdrops or galanthus are naturalizing perennial bulbs that bloom white flowers in very early spring, before crocus. They grow best in dappled shade and get tall. Usually planted in mass under trees or shrubs, along woodland paths, or in borders.
A subtropical suburban oasis in Wandsworth, south-west London designed to defy the depredations of global warming, garden pests and kids without recourse to carbon emissions, chemicals or cranial damage.
This lovely perennial gracefully fills spots where nothing else will grow. Its large, lavender flower spikes rise above the arching, evergreen tufts of grassy foliage. Excellent for planting under trees or overhangs, or in other shady areas.
