12th century medieval eye surgery in Italy. It was common in manuscripts to paint the details wich where important big. The cataract-needle was a very fine needle which was used to push the grey lense away from the pupil. This cataract surgery is made the same since the roman period and worked well. Today you use laser, but you do basically the same thing.
