Welcome these angels into your yard. Possums are by nature gentle non aggressive critters. They are probably the most beneficial of the native wildlife cleaning up dead things and rotten fruit. They are also immune to rattlesnake and viper venom, controlling those populations. You can offer your yard angels some greens, veggies, fruit, worms, bugs or even a chicken wing (with the bone) to show your appreciation.

by: Possum Possee ..A Virginia opossum female may have as many as 25 babies, but she usually will have between seven to eight. The reason opossums have so many babies to insure that some of them survive. Like most marsupials, opossums are very small when they are born - about the size of a navy bean. The babies climb up the mother's fur and into her pouch where they find a teat.

The female has 12 teats arranged in a circle and one in the center. When mature enough, the young opossums may cling to their mother’s back when she is on the move. The average litter size is six to eight joeys, and the female may have two litters a year.
