Taking ground cover to a whole new level!:

Landscape that has good form (tree, house, boulders, steps) but softens hard items with all the ground cover. The green also heightens the design without being too busy.

"Our kitchen garden covers a small flat area and a rather steep embankment behind it. We terraced the slope and created the raised beds for the rotations. On top of the embankment we planted 15 blueberries from a number of varieties in a long raised bed.  We use a crop rotation system in the majority of the beds. In the extra beds we plant seven year beans and over-wintering vegetables and all those plants that don't really fit the rotation cycle."

Maybe use cement blocks and then glue tiles or stones to them?

Raised beds of local Ojai stone grow organic vegetables, herbs and berries. Ted and Mary inherited the vegetable garden from the propertys prior owner, a chef. They have since added a pea patch to grow more edibles.

Raised beds on a hill?

Oooh - I could make them narrower and longer for the hill in the backyard. Maybe a couple of rows. And since it's full on sun back there - I can plant lots of veggies and all the flowers I like in the hot colors!
