by Walter Thornhill 1881 This extremely fine and large silver mounted coromandel case is applied with silver handles and ‘straps’ and a high relief coronet above an escutcheon enclosing a castle and supported by griffins and the motto Tient ferme. It opens to reveal a velvet interior with cut glass bottles and a silver chocolate-making set on silver trays which swing out to expose a second layer of trays with eight further boxes and a horseshoe-shaped clock and matching barometer.

Hopkins of Bond Street London, the lock by Samson Mordan & Co. of London   The leather and velvet lined case with brass lock, detailing and monogrammed plaque to lid, fitted with various glass bottles and boxes with silver caps, engraved with scrolling design and monogrammed, one jar has paper label for 'Powdered Ginger. T.N.Wilkins, Dispensing Chemist Clapham Common.'
