Male Juan Fernández Firecrown Hummingbird is critically endangered. It is found solely on Isla Róbinson Crusoe, one of a three-island archipelago belonging to Chile.

The unique Juan Fernandez Firecrown, Sephanoides fernandensis, is an insular hummingbird restricted to only one island in the Juan Fernández Archipelago, nearly 700km off the coast of Chile. Classified as critically endangered, it is one of the most threatened birds in Chile and the world. Conservation measures are being taken to try and avoid this beautiful hummingbird from joining the list of extinct species.
