Abandoned palace in Poland

Abandoned palace in Poland. You could live there a week and still not run into anyone else living there! <-- from previous pinner- that is a terrifying thought!

I have the urge to buy an old abandoned mansion and slowly fix it, one room at a time.

~Love the ceilings.I love staircases that retain their magnificent beauty amid decay. This abandoned palace in Poland does not disappoint.

The abandoned Château de Carnelle (Castle Franconville) designed for André Philippe Alfred Regnier, Duke of Massa, in 1875 by renowned architect Hippolyte Destailleur. Located on the edge of the forest Carnelle, in the Ile de France region of France. This land was given to the monks of Saint-Denis by Charles V. The Duke of Massa, childless, donated his estate to the city of Paris and it was converted into a sanatorium in 1930. The castle was finally closed in 1992.

Where did everyone go? Why is this mansion abandoned?

Why is this mansion abandoned? Instead of building new monstrosities with wasted floor space why not save these beautiful homes with character and move into them
