Lots of Tudor connections here: built during the reign of Henry VII by the Bishop of Ely; confiscated by Henry VIII when he forced the religious houses to close; childhood home of Edward VI and Queen Elizabeth I. After Elizabeth's death, the house went to Robert Cecil, son of Elizabeth's chief counselor William Cecil, 1st Baron Burghley.
