If you’ve EVER shot an outdoor wedding ceremony before, you know that sometimes the light isn’t ideal! In fact, a lot of times, it can be REALLY harsh! Especially when the bride is first coming down the aisle! 3 quick tips for shooting outdoor ceremonies in harsh light so that your photos of the bride coming down the aisle look awesome!

1. a sunny holiday destination? Avoid taking portraits in direct sunlight. Harsh shadows and squeezed up eyes are nowhere near flattering. Search for trees, porches etc to soften the light or take a portrait near a white wall that reflects light and thereby softens shadows.

I like the fact that she has a nice amount of light exposing her and the fact that her hand has shadow on her face and neck. I dislike the fact her hand is in the air and that it's not actually doing anything.

Control harsh light with a diffuser. Soften the harsh light of mid-day sun by placing sheer white fabric, translucent paper, or a professional diffuser between your subject and the harsh light source.
