Ferahan (SOLD), 3ft 4in x 4ft 10in, 3rd Quarter, 19th Century.   Impassioned 19th century Persian master weavers occasionally wove mat-size rugs as artistic studies or personal gifts. This well-preserved, diminutive antique Oriental carpet’s supremely confident expression, artistic virtuosity and superb craftsmanship all point to such an origin. Particularly distinguishing it is the unique golden apricot dye that was used for the color of the background.
