'View of Chartwell in the 1930s' by Sir Winston Churchill. In addition to being a first-class statesman, Sir Winston Churchill was a talented artist as well. The man loved to paint. He loved it so much that he built himself an art studio in his estate’s garden. When he felt the “Black Dog” of depression tailing him, he would retreat to his studio and keep the darkness away by putting brush to canvas. ~ I've always liked this painting of Chartwell.

Churchill painted “A View From Chartwell” in Chartwell is considered his own personal Garden of Eden. What’s interesting is that this was painted on the cusp of the beginnings of World War II.
