The traditional folk costume of Norway, called Bunad. Nowadays, it is commonly worn on Norway’s Constitution day (May 17). The specifics of design may also vary, shown here is a couple from the Telemark region circa 1880-1890s.

Bunad traditional dress of Norway.  (I could see my daughter in something like this. My kids paternal Grandfather is Norwegian.)

This is a Bunad traditional dress of Norway. The head piece is called a skaut, and is worn by married women. Other headpieces are worn by young girls, like beaded caps. Unmarried women wear headband like wraps for their head pieces.

Den nye Valdresbunaden (The new Valdres costume) // Valdres is a traditional district in central, S. Norway, situated between Gudbrandsdal & Hallingdal. The region around Valdres consists of the 6 municipalities of Nord-Aurdal, Sør-Aurdal, Øystre Slidre, Vestre Slidre, Vang & Etnedal. Valdres has about 18,000 inhabitants & is known for its excellent, "beautiful" dialect. Its main road is E16 & Fylkesveg 51 | Valdres is located approximately midway between Oslo & Bergen.

The woman's Valdres bunad costume is called “rutastakk”.
