A boy drawing the Medici vase. / 1656 / The Medici Vase, now in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, is a Roman marble made about AD50–100. It was at the Villa Medici in Rome by 1598, first appearing in the inventory of the Medici collection that century. The vase was widely copied, and appeared in many prints in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This print by Stefano Della Bella is one of the earliest.
