MV Empire Star, the second of her name. Built for Blue Star by Harland & Wolff, this refrigerated cargo ship was completed 12/35. the Captain was made a CBE and other crew OBEs after their handling of the ship full of refugees after it was bombed escaping Singapore on 12/02/42. The Captain was one of those killed later that year when the ship was torpedoed and sunk by U-615 off the Azores on 23/10/42.

Powered by Two 8-Cyl. 2 S.C.D.A. Burmeister & Wain oil engines. Transferred to Lamport & Holt Line in '50. Scrapped in 71

MV Dumbaia(general cargo), was built in 1960 by Lithgows at Port Glasgow  for British & Burmese Steam Navigation co, bought by Elder Dempster in July '64, sold to a Greek line in March '81,who sailed her under an Isle of Man flag of convenience. Arrived Shanghai in April 1984 for breaking. 10,550 dwt, 465ft long, 63ft beam, 26ft draught. Powered by B&W Oil Engine 5858 bhp.  This was the last conventional general cargo ship of Elder Dempster.

GWT 8782t, Length 572ft & breadth 69ft. single screw turbine steamship she developed 13,000SHP to give a service speed of 17/18 knots. She had a cargo capacity of 650,000 cubic feet, and was both fitted with an 80-ton derrick . She was renamed when she was transferred to the Far East Service. Sold for scrap in 1972

Gross Tonnage 8,925, length 522 ft, breadth 67.2 ft & loaded draught 29ft 7 ins. Had accommodation for 12 passengers The holds had Cargocaire ventilation fitted.

Empire Crown on sea trials. Empire Crown was a 7,067 GRT cargo ship  built by John Readhead & Sons Ltd, Sunderland. Launched on 16/10/43 and completed in January '44. Given to French Government in '45 and renamed Capitaine G Lacoley. Sold in  '61 to Mparmpapetros Shipping Co Sa and renamed Mparmpa Petros. Operated under the management of Pateras Shipbrokers Ltd, London. Ran aground on 22/05/63 at Porto de Pedras, Brazil, a total loss.
