Pauline Marie Elizabeth Wehde (Marianne Wehde, but also known as Marianne Wedde) was born in the Benkendorf (near Halle), Germany on 31 January 1866. She began touring at age 16, first in England and then in France and Ireland. In 1882 she was advertised as the soon-to-be bride of giant man Joseph Drasal. She was also known as the Giant Amazon Queen.

Elizabeth Lyska (1878-1896) was a Russian teenager who was taller than seven feet.  After her father died, Elizabeth toured Europe as a human oddity, to support her mother and siblings.  She died at home, at age 19.  Elizabeth Lyska is the subject of an art installation in Seattle right now, by paper artist Patty Grazini.  (From the blog Letterology)

Johann Petursson, was born in Dalvík, Iceland on 9 February 1913 and was known as "The Viking Giant", and as "Jóhann Risi" (Johann the Giant) and "Jóhann Svarfdælingur" (Johann from Svarfaðardalur) in his native country of Iceland. He had a normal development till the age of 15 after which accelerated growth occurred. At the age of 17 he was very strong and could lift a lorry, but at the age of 20 he was weak and suffered from walking difficulties.
