BERBERE-SPICED RED LENTIL HUMMUS (Part 1) 1 1/4 cup red lentils (picked over and rinsed)  3 cups water  2 large cloves garlic, peeled  1 tablespoon tahini (optional, but good)  1 tablespoon lemon juice  1 1/2 teaspoons berberé seasoning (below), or to taste  salt to taste (optional)
