Tivoli, Italy, is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites -- Hadrian's Villa (an emperor's estate from the century) and some of the most spectacular gardens and fountains ever built at Villa d'Este. They're an easy day trip from Rome.
Tivoli Gardens is the second oldest amusement park in the world and served as inspiration for Disneyland. I absolutely love this park - mixture of old and new. In my opinion one of the best amusement parks in Europe.
