SILK and VELVET BUSTLE DRESS with FRINGE, c. 1880. Claret ottoman with self piping, lace and crenelated trim at neck, bib front and cuff, floral cut velvet bodice and skirt front panel, draped skirt trimmed in chenille fringe and pointed pleats, crocheted buttons, polished cotton lining. B-30, W-22, skirt front L-37, back L-52. (Faint underarm stains, two buttons need to be resewn, waistband replaced, train relined and altered to button on to skirt hem) very good.

1881 silk and cotton evening dress with a scalloped hemline and Medici style collar by Frederick Loeser & Company, America. This design was displayed in the window of the 19th century Brooklyn department store Loeser's for its 50th anniversary, thereby placing it as an example of what the store considered fine design for the time.
