En période de conflit armé, le grand tambour est aussi protégé que la personne du roi" (Niangoran-Bouah in AFAA, 1989, p. 191). La caisse cylindrique est ici ornée de de deux frises de  visages - esprits tutélaires, génies de la brousse ou masques miniatures…
