Adult size right foot shoe with a pointed toe. The sole is missing. The upper comprises a vamp and separate one-piece quarters. The shoe is front fastening with the strap and small circular iron buckle still in situ. The buckle is attached with a leather thong. There are stitch holes in the inside of the quarters for the (now missing) heel stiffener. Part of the rand survives (from the toe area) and has extra, larger stitch holes in it which indicate that the shoe once had a clump (repair)…

Part of the fastening strap survives still slotted through a hole on one side of the upper. There are traces of an iron buckle (the buckle is missing) on the other side, with a thong loop below it. Ons eerste ArcheotopstukDordt was een 14e/15e eeuws kinderschoentje. Prachtig opengewerkt en misschien zelfs wel beschilderd leer. Helaas was de vindplaats niet bekend. Maar het mooie is: we hebben nog zo’n soort schoentje in de collectie! Ook daar heeft rond 1400 een peuter op rondgestapt, maar ook van deze vondst - ArcheotopstukDordt #39 - was niet meer bekend waar in Dordrecht de Rijksdienst het precies had opgegraven… Tot voor kort, want een gesprek met een archeoloog die destijds voor…
