normal squamous cells - These are "lining" cells or the first layer of cells on an organ or skin. The pink ones are the mature squamous(oldest )and the blue cells are the next - intermediate squamous cells. The third layer is a parabasal squamous cell, which take on a deeper blue hue from the 'pap' stain. (None are in this photograph.)

Entamoeba histolytica (ameba). Infection occurs by ingestion of infective cysts from feces, hands, food, fomites, and flies. Excystation occurs in the small intestine; asexual multiplication and trophozoites in the large intestine. Infective cysts are released through the feces.
