A small town is located along the west coast of the Sth Island; you must pass this town on the way up or down from Greymouth to Fox Glacier. Pancake Rocks, Paparoa NP, S Island, NZ.. The Pancake Rocks are a heavily eroded limestone area where the sea bursts through several vertical blowholes during high tides. Together with the 'pancake'-layering of the limestone (created by immense pressure on alternating hard soft layers of marine creatures plant sediments), these form the main attraction of the area.
