Pet-en-l'air jacket ca. via Manchester City Galleries This type of jacket is called a pet-en-l'air, and in all honesty, I’m kind of at a loss to know what exactly the difference between a pet-en-l'air and a caraco is.

French pekin silk "casaquin" bodice with " Watteau" pleats - Louis XVI period - France -   "Very rare pekin silk jacket/bodice in pale green and pink/salmon stripes on ivory silk ground. The bodice front is attached with two hooks. Elegant "polonaise" pleated at the wrists, generous folds "à la Watteau" in the upper back. This jacket is fully lined with unbleached hemp. It is partially trimmed with green silk faille ribbon."
