Biologist Kate Rubins’ big dream takes her to the space station
Molecular biologist Kate Rubins led a virology lab before becoming an astronaut. She heads to the International Space Station on June 2016 where she will sequence DNA (a first in orbit) and study how liquid behaves in microgravity on a molecular scale.
At the State of the Union Address in President Obama recognized Astronaut Kelly (in blue suit), who was to spend an entire year on the International Space Station beginning in March. He is the twin brother of Astronaut Mark Kelly.
