Goose Island... Epic brewery

Goose Island Big John - Brewer's Notes: Inspired by the epic skyline of Chicago, Goose Island’s brewers set out to craft Big John; a tall, bold slugger of a stout that stands out vividly against the little soft beers out there.

#10 Goose Island is a brewery from my home town of Chicago, IL. It was one of the first craft brews I tasted a number of years ago. The Honker's Ale is an English style bitter beer however it is a bit low on the IBUs for my taste, rating a 30. It is well balanced and easy to drink with an ABV of 4.2%. I recommend grabbing a pint and a tour of the brewery the next time you are in the windy city. Cheers!

Goose Island Honker's Ale A very good english ale. Starts off with slight bitterness and some caramel as well. Then goes into the malts and the hops. Commonly found on tap and has more to offer then most other drafts.

This is sitting in my cellar.

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout Huge coffee and chocolate notes abound in this imperial stout. And at about percent ABV (alcohol by volume), you'll want to share! Try this with anything chocolate: cake, brownies, cookies or even dark chocolate.

Finally had this beer. Loved it but also love regular Breakfast stout. I did like the the oak and bourbon but at $9 a bottle I'll stick w/ the original.

Founders KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) a Imperial Stout beer by Founders Brewing Company, a brewery in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Another bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout from Abita, and this one is called Bourbon Street. Black in color with a very small head which is expected from a 10% ABV. The aroma is roasted malts and bourbon. And the taste follows the nose, however the bourbon flavor is there, but not overpowering. A great beer and one worth grabbing 2 just to keep in the beer cellar. 4.5 stars out of 5.
