Illustrations done for the Nausicaa manga ===== Manga began running in monthly 'Animage' in Feb. 1982, collected in order of appearance ===== Notes: I was forced to draw this one as well [laughs]. I just hated drawing covers. Even when I started serialization, I didn't do covers for any installments, not even the 1st one. I wanted to get the story moving as fast as possible. We even put the title in the margins.

Illustrations done for the Nausicaa manga ===== Manga began running in monthly 'Animage' in Feb. 1982, collected in order of appearance ===== Notes: I remember muttering to myself, "Another cover?" as I drew this for a series of 4 film comics [laughs]. The more I don't want to do something, the less I get done, so I forced myself to do all 4 at once. I remember how calm Kodasha's editor was despite my grumbling.

Images Drawn for the Nausicaa Motion Picture ===== Released in March of 1984 - image boards, tapestries drawn for the opening, etc ===== Notes: These are image boards for the Valley of the Wind. The windmills I'd wanted to use in the manga were not the revolving windmills, but old windmills, like the ones in China, with cloth propped up on a vertical shaft. == Castle in the Valley of the Wind == (top right, clockwise) Jhil's room, Windmill view tower, Entrance, Female tower, Garden
