Anatomy of a tooth:  Enamel: the tough, shiny, white outer surface of the tooth Dentin: the hard but porous tissue located under both the enamel and the cementum of the tooth. Dentin is harder than bone! Pulp: the soft center of the tooth. The pulp contains blood vessels and nerves; it nourishes the dentin Crown: the visible part of the tooth Gums: the soft tissue that surrounds the base of the teeth Root: the anchor of a tooth that extends into the jawbone

Found a great infographic on dental x-rays.  We often get questions and concerns about them:  Are they safe? (yes!  Plus, we've gone digital for a while now, and it exposes you to less radiation than traditional x-rays)  Why do we have to do x-rays? (so we can detect problems early on, before they become bigger problems)  Can't I have them next time? (you always have the option of postponing dental x-rays, however it is in your best interest for early detection of dental issues.
