Marigolds help tomatoes and roses grow better. Nasturtiums keep bugs away from squash and broccoli. Petunias protect beans from beetles. oregano chases them away from cucumbers. Chives make carrots sweeter. Basil makes tomatoes even tastier.
Cool idea for growing cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, etc. Plant in pots high near overhang then have plant grow over wiring I did this with tomato plants to keep the rabbits from eating them-but it didn't help with the squirrels!
Growing Romaine lettuce from the leftover stumps. Why have I never thought of this? I know you can do this with green onions and avocado pits. To think of all the romaine lettuce stumps I've just tossed away!

You can regrow garlic sprouts from a single garlic clove. Just place the garlic cloves in a small cup with a little water and let it grow. The garlic sprouts have gentle flavor than garlic and can be added to pasta, salads and other dishes.
