Government constitutes High Level Committee to study status of the Indian tribal communities

The Lisu people are a Tibeto-Burman ethnic group who inhabit the mountainous region of Arunachal Pradesh.  Lisu people in India are called Yobin. There are about 5,000 Lisu people in India. The Lisu tribe consists of more than 58 different clans. Each family clan has its own name or surname. Lisu history is passed from one generation to the next in the form of songs. Today, this song is so long that it can take a whole night to sing.

Hill tribe (Thailand) — Hill tribe is a term used in Thailand for all of the various tribal peoples who migrated from Yunnan, Tibet, or elsewhere in China over the past few centuries. THAILAND, An Akha woman  The Akha are an indigenous hill tribe that live in small villages at high altitudes in the mountains of Thailand, Burma, Laos, China, and Yunnan Province in China. They made their way from China into South East Asia during the early 1900s. Civil war in Burma and Laos resulted in an increased flow of Akha immigrants and there are now some 80,000 living in Thailand's northern provinces of Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai.
