Petra, Jordan Petra is an Arabian historical and archaeological city in the Jordanian governorate of Ma'an, that is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Established possibly as early as 312 BC
Petra Byzantine church mosaic floor, and centuries. First built over Nabataean and Roman remains around 450 AD. It may have been a major and cathedral, which is intriguing given the other evidence of Petra’s decline after a 363 AD earthquake.
