A rapier, manufactured in the century by the technology of the old masters as a gift to one high-ranking person. Such exceptionally flexible rapiers were made in Toledo in the beginning of century. They were sold in gun shops and coiled.

16th century one-and-a-hald handed Schweizersäbel, steel, leather, overall length 113 cm. The pommel, made or iron, has a spirally fluted neck while the handle turns into a S-shaped quillons. Ottoman kilij, (smaller version known as "pala") late 18th century, watered steel blade, blunt edge decorated with confronted cast palmettes, gilded crossguard with stylised openwork depiction of the Ottoman Imperial coat-of-arms, ivory grip with gilt studs, velvet covered scabbard with gilt openwork coat-of-arms on a ground decorated in repoussé with military and architectural scenes, cannons on a punched ground, rococo foliage borders above and below, 34in. (86.4cm.) long.

The short version of the Ottoman kilij sometimes known as ''pala'', with deeply curved wide blade and ‘T’ spine, used from the early 17 C. for more than 300 years well into the 20th C, T-section spine blade extending to the yelman, decorated in gold overlay with panels of arabesques and three panels of inscriptions. Brass guard engraved with a tendril. Grip scales of translucent brown horn. Leather-covered scabbard, the long brass mounts engraved with florals. 27 inch. 18th to 19th century.
