In a complete break from the “typical” Norse tunic style, two tunics were discovered in Birka, Sweden, as well as Hedeby, dubbed the Hedeby Klappenrock. Unlike the pull-over styles, these tunics were were split up the front at a diagonal angle, so as to create a double-breasted shape. The sides overlapped and the tunic was closed with a belt.
